Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum

The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum opened to the public in 1857 and is Mumbai’s oldest Museum. It is the erstwhile Victoria & Albert Museum, Bombay, with a unique collection that includes the decorative arts, paintings, rare books and photographs, models and dioramas that document the life of the people of Mumbai and the history of the city from late 19th to the early 20th century. The Museum, headed by Tasneem Mehta, Hon. Director, underwent a comprehensive five-year restoration and re-opened in 2008. The project won UNESCO’s international Award of Excellence for cultural conservation in 2005.

Atul Kumar, Founder Trustee has worked actively on civic issues, particularly pertaining to the protection of open spaces, heritage conservation of south Mumbai’s Art Deco precinct, and its nomination to UNESCO as a World Heritage site. He is passionate about conservation and good governance. He is on the Board of Directors of the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS) and Chairs their Preservation Committee. He has lectured and presented at the World Congress on Art Deco in Miami, Malaysian Heritage Society, Art Deco Society of New York (ADSNY), and INTACH.

Founded in 1976, the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting the rich architectural and cultural heritage of Miami Beach. As the organization behind the world-famous Art Deco Historic District, MDPL has played a pivotal role in safeguarding the legacy of Art Deco, MiMo, and other significant design movements. Through advocacy, education, and cultural programming, MDPL continues to celebrate Miami’s unique architectural landscape while fostering global appreciation for historic preservation.

The Wolfsonian–Florida International University

The Wolfsonian–FIU is a museum, library, and research center that uses objects to illustrate the persuasive power of art and design, to explore what it means to be modern, and to tell the story of social, political, and technological changes that have transformed our world. They provide free resources tailored for educators, parents, and out-of-school programs aiming to enhance student engagement in STEAM subjects. The mission of the talkSTEM nonprofit organization is to make Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) learning engaging for all learners. The organization uses place-based learning strategies so that all interested individuals see the relevance of STEM in their local communities and environments. talkSTEM has partnered with museums, zoos, nature centers, schools, universities, and cities to develop STEM and STEAM ( the “A” is for arts) walking tours. The Citizens’ Archive of India is a digital oral history collection that records personal histories and material memory of ordinary people who have seen India’s evolution over the years, with a view to creating a publicly accessible archive. It has a repository of almost 700 hours of interviews conducted in nine languages, and over 5000 photographs. The archive is accessed by a wide range of users, such as scholars, authors, filmmakers, and school students.
